Fraser EMDR Training

In 2005 Barbara Horne joined Fraser EMDR Training as an EMDRIA-Approved Instructor. Susan Fraser MSW, RSW, CTS (www.frasercounselling.com) is one of Canada's leading pioneers in the EMDR field. Susan has been an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant & Trainer since 1999, offering over 50 training courses across Canada since that time. Her small-group trainings are well recognized in the Canadian EMDR community for their effectiveness in enabling people to immediately incorporate EMDR into their work with clients. Fraser EMDR Training offers general and on-site trainings in Central and Eastern Canada. Contact us if you are interested in arranging a Basic EMDR Training Course at your site.

As of 12/31/07 EMDRIA changed its training standards in several ways. To receive a certificate from Fraser EMDR Training for your Basic EMDR Training you now need to complete ALL of the following:

1.       Part One—3.5 days (15 didactic hours/12 practicum hours)

2.       Part Two—3 days (15 didactic hours/ 8 practicum hours)

3.       10 hours of consultation with an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant

Our Basic EMDR Training courses are conducted in small groups (max 30) allowing for individual attention, personal supervision and small-group support & cohesion. Following each of our training weekends, you will have what you need to immediately and comfortably begin using EMDR with your clients. Our training groups often go on to form peer-support networks or consultation groups—this course provides a safe and personal context in which to develop your skills. Our course exceeds the standards set by the EMDR International Association, offering an extra half-day for experiential activities and demonstrations. It is divided into two parts (3.5 days and 3 days). Part One equips you to work with simple PTSD cases, while Part Two offers techniques and protocols for working with complex PTSD and special populations. During the five practicums you do personal EMDR work with each other, closely supervised by instructors and facilitators (on a 10:1 ratio). You can complete the required consultation hours on your own (with any EMDRIA-Approved Consultant) or you can participate in our Consultation Program, which offers two 2-hour teleconference consultations after Part One and three 2-hour teleconference consultations after Part Two. You may also elect to do part of your consultation with us and part with another consultant, on an opt-in basis.

Basic EMDR Training
With Kathy Karn, M.Ed. & Brynah Schneider, Ph.D., C.Psych.

We offer an EMDRIA Approved Basic Training Course in EMDR. The 53 hour curriculum assures participants the highest standard of training within a small group setting (maximum 20) and includes textbook, manual and10 hours of group consultation. Both Part 1 and 2 training involve lectures, live demonstrations, video and individual supervised practice of EMDR.

The primary goals of the training:

·         To provide a high caliber EMDRIA approved training so participants learn to use EMDR appropriately, effectively and safely in a variety of applications by the end of Part 1.

·         To meet individual trainees needs, provide personal EMDR supervision and consultation.

This program offers the complete standard EMDR training (revised in 2007) as approved by the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). Some additional protocols are incorporated in Parts 1 & 2. Because group size is limited, participants receive individual attention that is simply not possible in larger EMDR trainings. Ongoing contact is provided through Two 3 hour group consultation sessions between Part 1 & Part 2 and one 4 hour group consultation session after Part 2. Kathy and Brynah will provide help with any questions, concerns, or difficulties therapists may encounter as they begin to practice EMDR.
