Welcome to EMDR Canada

EMDR therapy is an empirically validated treatment used by clinicians who adhere to a well established methodology.

EMDR Canada provides the public information on EMDR as a therapeutic option as well as the means of locating trained clinicians in their regions.

We offer professionals information about EMDR in the event they seek an appropriate referral for their clients. You will find information about participating in trainings to become EMDR clinicians and for those professionals already trained in EMDR we offer a Canadian membership to our parent organization, EMDRIA providing access to all the memberships’ benefits of both associations.

EMDR Canada members gain access to scholarly publications of up to date research, a calendar of advanced training events and conference information, a membership directory, a library of EMDRIA Newsletters, and access to the community discussion forum to communicate with other EMDR therapists.

Annual Conference of EMDR Canada

This year the annual EMDR Canada Conference took place in Banff, Alberta. It was a wonderful and inspiring Conference with high quality speakers from the US, Israel, Brazil and Canada. The delegates (around 120) enjoyed the beautiful environment and many wished to come back to Banff in the future.

The 2014 conference will be held in Quebec City. A call for presentations will be sent out to our members shortly.

Remembering

It is with deep sadness that we learned of the death of David Servan-Schreiber. He passed away on july 24th 2011 , surrounded by his loving family.
He had just published a new book about his latest fight with cancer.
The title says it all! On peut se dire au revoir plusieurs fois ;
which means ( roughly translated ) : We Can Say Good Bye Several Times.

Similarly, to some of you I had the privilege to know him professionally. In addition to his involvement with EMDR France, he came often to the
Province of Québec , where in the last few years he was involved in some projects. Here, he was especially well known and had a wide and loyal following. In spite of this renown, he stayed approachable, caring and genuine. We in the Quebec EMDR community can be especially grateful to him. As a result of his book Guérir (in English, The Instinct to Heal), we saw a real growth in the interest in EMDR. As a result, several hundred clinicians took the Basic EMDR Training. Many are continuing to this day as active participants in the local and Canadian EMDR and EMDR Canada community.
We bid you David: Un gros merci et Adieu!

Respectfully,
Judith N. Black
